The coming election offers us an opportunity to bring some attention to the issue of dementia and to the challenges faced by caregivers. I'd like to compose a sort of open letter to the candidates to pose questions which desperately need to be addressed. Sending it to the newspapers gives us a chance to raise awareness in the public, too. I am open to any suggestions!

Bluebird, I encourage you to share from your personal story as much as you comfortably can. This is an issue that affects every day people. Not too many people are not connected to or related to someone battling dementia. The lived experience story is something that awakens people to think: "that could be my husband, mother, or me." The story is the truth that touches people's hearts and causes them to act. (That's the reason this site exists too!) So glad you are doing this. The election is June 12th. If we are passionate about this, we need to ask our candidates "What are you doing to help those living with dementia?" and vote accordingly.
