This week in our provincial lived experience chat, we asked people to share their experiences as they tried to find services and navigate the health care system. Where did you find help and where did you struggle?

I always wonder when will modern science find a permanent cure for this disease. Its been a while since all kinds of researches were being carried out but the cure seems to be elusive. My 73 year old father suffers from dementia. He is in his initial stages of dementia where he has got difficulty remembering things and has language and communication problems too. Mom alone cannot take care of her. But recently we had to rely on assisted living services, Bridgewood Prestige Care http://www.prestigecare.com/independent_services.php . Whenever possible I keep aside time for my dad, getting him involved in fun activities and puzzles, though he shows reluctance. I am expecting the inevitable , days of hardships ahead. I pray that God grant us all the strength to face those days.

Hello Edward,

Thanks so much for posting your thoughts. Yes, as you said it is a struggle. Glad to hear that assisted living services have provided you with some support. Are you connected at all with the Alzheimer Societies in your area? They might be able to connect you with others who are in the same situation and give you resources. Wishing you all the best. :)
