Hello SE Ontario Lived Experience Network Advisors,
It is hard to believe that five years ago this September, I was given the opportunity and privilege of leading the SE Ontario Lived Experience Network. In that time, over 900 people with lived experiences have been able to share their stories and input with hopes of exchanging knowledge and partnering for change. The Lived Experience Café through www.dementiacrossroads.ca has over 170 members who participate in South Eastern Ontario and province-wide live typed chats.
So, it is with a mix of sadness and excitement I announce to you that on July 27th I will be leaving my role as the SE Ontario Lived Experience Facilitator. During our many conversations over the past years, you have shared of the need for system navigation along with early access to education and services. As of August 1, 2018, I will be working three days a week as a First Link Navigator with the Alzheimer Society of Hastings Prince Edward.
I will continue in my role as BSO Provincial Lived Experience Facilitator, leading those monthly advisory conversations/chats and have also made myself available to assist with SE Ontario live chats and our dementia crossroads online community as needed. Along with the leadership team, I will keep you informed during this transition time and let you know when my replacement is found. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments. The date for the next SE Ontario live chat is Tuesday, September 4th at 7PM.
I want to send out a huge and heartfelt thanks to all of you. It has been an honour getting to know you, to see how strong and passionate you were – even when you didn’t feel strong or passionate. I have learned so much and although I will no longer be available to do face to face meetings, I hope we can continue to partner through provincial meetings/chats, other virtual projects and potentially through Teepa Snow Positive Approach to Care family care partner education workshops as they arise.
Wishing you all the best,
Lived Experience Facilitator
