October Lived Experience Update

Hello Lived Experience Network Members,

Please be aware of some of the things that are taking place this month, including our October Live Chat Events.

On September 25, three members of the Lived Experience Network (from different areas in the South East) and I took part in an event called “Ontario’s Best Practice Exchange” in Mississauga. This event was designed to bring together older adults and/or care partners living  dementia, mental health, substance use and/or neurological disorders with health care service providers and planners from across Ontario to share their ideas, best practices and build future partnerships.

During the panel time, members with lived experience were asked the question: “Describe what “person and family centred care” means to you. Share examples of when you have received this kind of care and when you have not.”

That is our question for October’s live chat events. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and lived experiences.

Our PM chat will take place: the first Tuesday of the month on Tuesday, October 6th from 6:30-8PM and our noon hour chat will the third Monday of the month on Monday, October 19th from 12 noon to 1PM.

This Fall has been (and will be) full of opportunities for me to share locally, provincially and nationally about the work that is happening in the South East with the Lived Experience Network. I look forward to meeting some of you face to face in the coming month as well in Belleville, Bancroft and Kingston. (Please see the calendar of events on for more information.) Remember you can also share your input through our online discussion boards and Facebook page.

Thank you for your efforts in getting our stories and suggestions for change out there so we can continue to improve the health care experiences of older adults in Ontario!

With thanks,

Sharon Osvald
